Otago Polytechnic's focus on delivering outstanding education and
providing learners with the right support to ensure their success
is reflected in strong performances in the latest government data.

The annual Educational Performance Indicators (EPIs) released by the Tertiary Education Commission measure how tertiary providers are performing.
We’re proud to be the top performing ITP for qualification completion rates for a fifth consecutive year, ranking #1 out of the country's 16 Institutes of Technology or Polytechnics for the 2025 academic year.
That includes taking the top spot for Māori learner completion rates (up from second place in 2024).
Chief Executive Andrew McSweeney says the results are outstanding and demonstrate the continuing high educational quality and performance that Otago Polytechnic has consistently delivered, alongside strong care and support for ākonga.
“These excellent results reflect the passion of all our kaimahi and our desire to help our ākonga succeed," he says.

“Our learners are at the heart of everything we do, and these latest figures showcase how we continue to be a proud leader in high-quality, career-focused tertiary education.”
There was also strong increases in first-year retention for both Māori and Pasifika learners undertaking non-degree study, which is testament to the exceptional cultural support provided by our dedicated staff.
With 96%* of our graduates in work or further study, and an overall student satisfaction rating of 95%**, anyone who studies with us is highly likely to get where they want to go in life and enjoy themselves along the way!
