Regarding the Chinese transliteration of "Otago," two variations—"奥塔戈" and "奥塔哥"—are currently used across various sectors of society and online platforms. To ensure accuracy and standardization in information dissemination, we hereby provide the following clarification:

The "Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education License of the People's Republic of China" (No. MOE43NZA02DNR20252585N), issued by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in December 2025, adopts "奥塔戈" as the standardized Chinese transliteration. To strictly comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education's approval document and to ensure the authority and consistency of the Institute's information, all official materials, promotional content, and external communications of the Hunan Institute of Engineering – Otago Polytechnic Joint Institute shall uniformly use "奥塔戈理工联合学院" as its full Chinese name.

This is hereby clarified.
